San Clemente "Gators" Youth Rugby
San Clemente Youth Rugby provides rugby for youth in the San Clemente area (and southern Orange County) and was founded at the end of the 2004 rugby season. In 2006 we had teams playing U6 "minis", U8, U10, U12 non-contact, and U14 boys and U14 girls contact (tackle) rugby. High school players for U16, HS Girls and HS Boys should contact . San Clemente Youth Rugby is a member of USA Rugby, the Southern California Rugby Football Union, and Southern California Youth Rugby.
Our coaches are all ex rugby players from the USA, Australia, Ireland, South Africa, and England. Our players are all kids in the San Clemente area (plus a few rugby fanatics from neighboring areas) between the ages of 5 and 13.
Adult Men's Rugby The South Orange County Gators are a men's Div III rugby team that play during the regular rugby season and also play summer sevens. |

What Is Rugby?
The Maryland Exiles have also written a "Quick Guide To Rugby" It was also written a few years ago, describes full contact rugby, and includes some nice photos of youth playing full contact rugby. San Clemente Youth Rugby plays non contact rugby until the age of 12, then full contact rugby is played. Non contact rugby is a modified version of the game and is designed to introduce the game to youngsters in a safe learning environment. Once the basics are mastered and rules understood full contact is introduced. |
